McKain Contract Expires

Jonathan McKain has been a player of Adelaide United since 2011 but his time with the Australian club has reached its end after they were unable on agreeing a new contract.

The 31 year old defender who can perform as a makeshift defensive midfielder revealed through his twitter account his disappointment about leaving Adelaide United but his future continues on somewhere else.

‘’Dissapointed to be leaving Adelaide United. Hoped and wanted to stay but not to be. A new adventure awaits somewhere’’. McKain’s message as he wrote via twitter.

Adelaide United recently have been holding talks with some of their players concerning their future with the club and one them being  the Argentine playmaker Adrian Carrusca who decided on penning a 1 year contract extension as his contract will tie him down with the Australian club until 2015.

Carrusca revealed his delight after signing a contract extension with Adelaide United as he said:

“We now know what we need to do on the pitch. We have one style and we are working very hard every day on the pitch to learn this style. I love the way that we now want to play and for that I want to stay and help the team to reach the finals and of course like everybody I want to win the grand finale.”

Since making his arrival to Adelaide United (on the recommendation of Cristiano Ronaldo) in 2012 and after making over 40 appearances with the club based at the Hindmarsh Stadium, he has failed to secure any major trophies with the club and is hoping that this can change before he hangs up his boots and retire from playing professional football.

Central Coast Mariners will be taking on Adelaide United during the weekend. Adelaide come into the match hoping to sustain their position in the top six of the table, which is the final qualifying spot for the play-offs. Central Coast, meanwhile, are looking into finishing in the top two positions. They are fighting for this place along with Western Sydney Wanderers. With just one match left in the campaign, Central Coast will want to take all three points from this final match in order to maximise their chances of a top two finish.

Right now, they are third in the table due to an inferior goal difference compared with Sydney Wanderers. Central Coast manager Phil Moss says that he has studied the opposition extensively and he has already spotted several weaknesses in Adelaide United. This could help them take advantage and score numerous goals. Adelaide have not been consistent over the last few weeks. They come into the match on the back of a 2-0 defeat against Newcastle Jets, whereas Central Coast have suffered just one defeat in the last five matches.

They looked outstanding in the 2-0 win over Brisbane Roar, while Moss believes that the momentum will help his team achieve this victory.

“I think the key the objective of any coach is to nullify the opposition strengths and exploit their weaknesses. I’m certainly not going to go public with what our tactics are going to be this weekend. Suffice to say they put six goals (4-0 and 2-0 at Coopers) past us in the last two games so we know where their strengths are. We also know where they’re also a little bit vulnerable we’re a completely different proposition than what we were last time we met,” said Moss.

Adelaide have won the last two matches against Central Coast in the past.
